Pre-Primary and Primary

We welcome you to Pawar Public School to a world of learning in an invigorating environment. It is an interactive world where every pupil is challenged to grow to his/her optimum potential. Ours is an institution where young minds are shaped to be critical thinkers with a positive approach who accept different perspectives and accept diversity.

At PPS, we follow the XSEED Programme from Nursery to Grade 5. It is a curriculum designed by iDiscoveri, a social enterprise led by a group of passionate educators, management professionals and psychologists including alumni of Harvard, Cambridge, the IIM's and other leading institutions.

The XSEED Programme follows Kurt Lewin's model of Experiential Learning. We strongly believe that experience and analysis based on interaction between the individuals and their environment can only lead to real learning. In order to provide this everlasting experience to our pupils, we make sure that they go through concrete experiences that help them to observe, reflect and analyse This helps them in their journey from the abstract to the concrete and apply the knowledge gained to real life situations.

Our programme recognises that learning varies due to differences in individual personalities and perceptions and our effort is to address different types of learners by adopting various instructional tools and skills like graphic organizers, group and pair work, questioning, demonstrating, brainstorming, discussing and explaining and by following different classroom management techniques. Our facilitators consciously cater for different pupils within the same framework while planning and conducting lessons. For example, if 'Water' is the theme, then the facilitator plans activities like collecting a few poems on water, collecting data on rainfall in the area and analysing the same, heating water until steam is formed and finally making a project report to put all the information and analysis for a presentation.

We believe that the pupils of the Pre-Primary Section relate better to their immediate environment and keeping this in mind, our facilitators' following the XSEED Early Proramme use thematic teaching to integrate concept formation and skill development in the learning of Language, Mathematics and Environmental Science. Our programme also involves the development of cognitive, physical, creative, personal social and emotional skills in pupils.

The XSEED Junior Programme includes English, Mathematics and Environmental Science while the Middle Programme includes English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. Our curriculum for the pupils of Grade 1 to 7 also includes the teaching of other curricular subjects like Second Language(Hindi/Marathi), Third Language(Hindi/Marathi), Computer Science and co-curricular subjects like Physical Education, Art, Craft, Music, Dance, Drama and Cultural Activities.

We have adopted the pattern of Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation to assess our pupils. The objective is to focus on the holistic development of the child. The assessment pattern for the pupils of the Pre-Primary Section comprises Formative Evaluation only. They are given four Report Cards, one in each quarter. The assessment pattern for the pupils of the Primary Section comprises both Formative Evaluation and Summative Evaluation. The report cards of the pupils of the Pre-Primary and Primary Sections reflect the grades achieved by the pupils in various Learning Outcomes taught in the term. The assessment pattern for the pupils of the Secondary Section comprises both Formative Evaluation assessed through various tools and Summative Evaluation assessed through two term end examinations. The evaluation reports are given twice a year for both the Primary and Secondary Sections.

We have set out on an exhilarating journey of discovery with the goal of providing our pupils with a unique learning experience which will be engaging, meaningful and fulfilling. We truly believe in the role of adults as scaffolds and partners in the pupils learning process and hope to play a significant role in shaping the lives of the future citizens of our nation.

At the secondary level, teaching is application oriented and students are encouraged to start referring to the extensive resource material available at the library, to expand their vocabulary and to express their ideas and thoughts in their own words. Evaluation is based on grades in core subjects as well as in co-curricular achievements. Internal assessment is based on performance in projects, assignments, regular and timely submission of homework and class work.
